iRest®  Yoga Nidra Meditation

“In the end, we realize how simple life is when we accept this moment, just as it is, without pretending to be other than who we are. This is grace in action and the culmination of iRest.” – Richard Miller, PhD

iRest (Integrative Restoration) – Yoga Nidra is a transformative practice of deep relaxation and meditative inquiry that releases negative emotions and thought patterns, calms the nervous system, and develops an inner state of well-being and equanimity that underlies all circumstance you may encounter in your life. Research has shown iRest effectively reduces PTSD, depression, anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain, and chemical dependency, as well as an overall increase in well-being.  For more information on Integrative Restoration visit the iRest®  website.

This weekly meditation class is designed to support you in inviting in a regular practice of meditative inquiry into your life.  Each week we will explore the practice of iRest Yoga Nidra through teachings, intimate dialogue, and embodied experience.  You will have an opportunity to sit with others who are also inviting in more ease, peace and well being into their lives.

The practice of iRest Yoga Nidra is also offered in the following classes: Restorative Yoga, Yin, Weds Level 1 and Well Being.

Pam also offers  iRest through workshops, meditation courses and private sessions and has adapted iRest to make it accessible to children and youth.

Restorative Yoga & iRest Yoga Nidra

Suitable for beginners and all levels of experience.

Relaxation is the natural precursor to healing and this is the class to do that. Cultivate health and wellness; transform stress, anxiety and depression, by developing the art of self-nourishment and deep relaxation. This gentle yoga practice incorporates restorative yoga postures, breath awareness,  and is concluded with the deeply meditative and transformative practice of iRest Yoga Nidra.

Well Being (Therapeutic Yoga)

No previous yoga experience necessary. Suitable for beginners and all levels of experience.

This therapeutic practice of yoga is a holistic approach to healing, designed to create well being in body and mind. It has long been understood that there is a connection between pain and disease in the body with stress and the state of the mind. Scientific studies have proven yoga to be effective in managing pain, reducing stress, anxiety and depression, while addressing musculoskeletal imbalances that lead to pain and dysfunction in the back, neck, shoulders, hips and knees, as well as a number of other health conditions affected by the neuroendocrine system.

Often traditional approaches to managing pain and dysfunction in the body and mind are ineffective because they fail to treat the body mind complex as a whole. In the Well Being class we develop an intimate awareness of the body and mind as we explore from the soles of the feet to the crown of the head, inside and out. A variety of healing modalities are incorporated into this practice including yoga postures, trigger point therapy and myofascial release techniques, body sensing and somatics to address sensory-motor amnesia, breath work and the meditative and deeply relaxing practice of iRest Yoga Nidra .

This class is a wonderful mix of personalized attention within a group setting. Pam meets with you before the class even begins to identify the areas that you want to /need to work on. In this initial private 30 min consultation, you will discuss your personal needs for the upcoming class session and begin to set up the program. Each week in class you will be working on your own program with her guidance while everyone else does theirs.  As the session progresses, you will work in class with Pam to fine tune your program so it continues to meet your needs.

Whether you are struggling with chronic pain, insomnia, asthma, anxiety, depression, some other condition of dis-ease or simply wanting to take a preventative approach to health, this class is for you.

Yin Yoga & iRest Yoga Nidra

Suitable for beginners and all levels of experience.

Yoga as practiced in North America is predominately Yang or muscular in nature. The Yin aspect of Yoga uses long-held relaxed floor postures to stretch and stimulate the “Yin” or deep connective tissues of the body. The two major differences between a Yin and a Yang Yoga practice are that Yin postures are done with the muscles relaxed and held a longer period of time. This is because connective tissue does not stretch like muscle and will not respond well to brief stresses.

This gentle yet challenging practice will increase your flexibility, opening your hips, lower back and shoulders and will enhance your overall sense of well-being. It is deeply meditative and a natural complement to balance other yoga practices. The class ends with a delicious practice of iRest Yoga Nidra to leave you feeling restored in body, mind and spirit.
