Yoga is good medicine
The therapeutic practice of yoga is a holistic approach to healing, designed to create well being in body and mind. It has long been understood that there is a connection between pain and disease in the body with stress and the state of the mind. Scientific studies have proven yoga to be effective in managing pain, reducing stress, anxiety and depression, while addressing musculoskeletal imbalances that lead to pain and dysfunction in the back, neck, shoulders, hips and knees, as well as a number of other health conditions affected by the neuroendocrine system.
Often traditional approaches to managing pain and dysfunction in the body and mind are ineffective because they fail to treat the body mind complex as a whole. A private yoga therapy session offers the opportunity to develop an intimate awareness of the body and mind as we explore from the soles of the feet to the crown of the head, inside and out. A variety of healing modalities are explored and incorporated into a personal practice including yoga postures, trigger point therapy and myofascial release techniques, body sensing, somatic movement to address sensory-motor amnesia, and breath work.
Pam’s approach to yoga therapy is strongly influence by her training as an iRest Yoga Nidra teacher, her studies with numerous experts in yoga therapy and pranayama (breathing techniques).
Whether you are struggling with chronic pain, insomnia, asthma, anxiety, depression, some other condition of dis-ease or simply wanting to take a preventative approach to health, a private session will benefit you.
